Empowering Tomorrow: Unveiling the ‘Prerana’ Program – A Special Program for Students to Learn and Grow

The Ministry of Education’s latest initiative, the ‘Prerana’ program, marks a significant step towards fostering leadership qualities and instilling values in students. This week-long residential program, designed for class IX to XII students, blends heritage with innovation, providing a holistic learning experience.

Roots in Rich Heritage Held in Vadnagar, Gujarat, a city boasting ancient heritage, the program operates from a Vernacular School established in 1888. It symbolizes resilience and the triumph over challenges, echoing the spirit of the Prime Minister, an alumnus of the school.

Curriculum and Themes The curriculum, crafted by IIT Gandhi Nagar, revolves around nine value-based themes, promoting concepts such as Swabhiman, Shaurya, and Vividhta. This aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizing the integration of Indian education principles.

Experiential Learning Approach The daily schedule includes yoga, mindfulness, and meditation sessions, followed by thematic learning and hands-on activities. Evening activities feature visits to heritage sites and inspirational film screenings, fostering a holistic approach.

Registration and Selection Process Students from class IX to XII can register at prerana.education.gov.in. The selection process, including activities on ‘Prerana Utsav’ day, aims to identify well-rounded personalities keen on shaping the nation’s future.

Inspiring Change Upon completion, participants are expected to carry the ethos of Prerana into their communities, becoming change-makers and inspiring positive transformations. The program is a beacon of empowerment, aligning with the vision of a united and diverse Bharat.
